Farm Drum? What’s That?

Our friend, the poet/musician/mechanic/bookmaker/farmer Paul Hunter and I (Paul’s insufficient side-kick and the old-guy formerly known as Lynn Miller) are working to assemble in written, audio and eventually video form, short pieces of information, images and quotations that serve as a soft persistent drum-beat heralding small farms. Farmdrum.com as you see it here is a changing insert into the smallfarmersjournal.com website. Today it’s slideshows, audio images and text. We are working on a radio show we call FarmDrum the radio project which, when complete, will begin its existence on the website. Farm Drum IS Small Farmer’s Journal in capsule form. Its content to be drawn from past, present and future issues of the Journal. Here’s how

Farm Drum isn’t replacing or competing with Small Farmer’s Journal. It’s kind of a ‘light-rail’ version giving some folks a little of what they need to get down the road with their farming venture while keeping the big picture of Small Farmer’s Journal crystal clear. Farm Drum, if it works the way we envision, will broaden the SFJ community experience into audio and video as well as internet connectivity. And if you’ve got ideas of stuff to include or how we can use FARM DRUM more effectively, please let us know. Thanks. LRM
