"For all of my nearly 25 years working horses there has been one implement which has proven the most useful of all, the stoneboat (or work sled if you prefer). This implement has commonly been built in farm shops, usually of wood construction, for hundreds of years. The variations in design of these home-built sleds is nearly infinite. To my knowledge no manufacturer has ever built a work sled or stoneboat for sale to the general public. Perhaps it is because the tool was considered to be too rudimentary, too basic, and too easily homemade. Or perhaps it was because the necessary cost might make the pricing prohibitive. But the idea of standardizing a design which incorporated modern materials, and then making the design generally available, intrigued me." -- Lynn Miller
