Positions Available

Hello,
I just began subscribing to the Small Farmer’s Journal, and am excited to see that you are taking up the issue of apprenticeship training. The North American Biodynamic Apprenticeship Program (www.bdtraining.org) has been developed over the last four years, and we’ve just completed our first full season with it. The program aims to provide apprentices with a more formal structure during their training and to raise the bar for the quality of on-farm education by fostering a culture of mentorship among farmers. The program Steering Committee and I would be happy to contribute to your inquiries into the subject of training in any way we can.
Also, we are hosting the second annual Farmer Mentor Workshop at Hawthorne Valley Farm in Harlemville, New York in February. Miranda Smith, editor of the New England Small Farm Institute’s “On-Farm Mentor’s Guide” will be speaking, and we hope to have a substantial group of mentor farmers in attendance.
Looking forward to connecting,
