Cyclone Stalk Cutters

Perhaps no other implement a farmer uses is subjected to as hard knocks as is a stalk cutter. It must work on high ridges and low, on frozen ground and in mud. To cut heavy, damp stalks a cutter must have plenty of weight and be so constructed that all that weight can be placed on the knives.

The Cyclone 7-knife cutter weighs 509 pounds – from 20 to 50 pounds more than most other cutters.

An exclusive Avery feature, and one of the most valuable improvements ever made on a stalk cutter, is the self-aligning ball-and-socket connection by which the cylinder is hung in the frame. This device prevents binding in the bearings, greatly lengthens their life and reduces the draft.

Notice the sturdy, reinforced construction of the cylinder head. Although there are tens of thousands of Cyclone Stalk Cutters in the field, it is a rare occurrence for us to receive an order for an extra cylinder head to replace a broken one.

A spring hitch absorbs the jar of the striking knives, preventing shock from being transmitted to the team, and saving the horses sore necks and sore shoulders.

The knives are double-edged and reversible. The steel hood extends entirely over the knives, protecting the driver from flying stalks and preventing injury to live stock when the cutter is left standing in the field.

The 6-knife cuts stalks into 12-inch lengths; the 7-knife into 10-inch lengths.
